ISLAMABAD: MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad has asked President general Pervez Musharraf to step down adding religious alliance is ready to accept the entire parliament including Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. " Nation is faced with a tragedy. President Musharraf should step down today, we are ready to accept the whole parliament including Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Shaukat Aziz", he said this while addressing a press conference here Tuesday at his residence.
Qazi alleged that General Musharraf is bent upon showing marginalized number of casualties. Information minister Sheikh Rashid on the other hand is accusing is that casualties are being shown in exaggerated manner. The nation should not be divided.
He reiterated that National Security Council (NSC) is a controversial body. It is not fair to take every matter to the council.
MMA president blamed that government has utterly failed in carrying out relief activities. All the relief aid coming from foreign countries is going to army. No one can conduct audit of army. Therefore, people participation should be ensured in this process, he demanded.
Snow fall has started in the areas of NWFP and AJK. No home is left safe from earthquake in these areas. Roof should be provided to the residents of these areas. Immediate arrangements should be made for supply of tents to the quake survivors there, he demanded.
Government is hampering relief activities of Jamaat-e-Islami and other organizations, he blamed. Government has taken into its possession water and weatherproof tents which has been provided by Norway.
He went on say that majority of buildings collapsed in the quake belongs to the government. This can give estimate what level of integrity was observed in the construction of these buildings. Hundreds of innocent children buried alive in the rubble, " We appeal to the people not to rally there. They should tell us their home addresses, we will ;provide the relief goods at their door step.
He underlined that the method adopted by the government of Pakistan for distribution of relief goods is not correct. Law and order situation has deteriorated and police has been called from other districts.
Replying to a question, he said that there was no need of such assistance which is collected by holding concerts. Musical concerts are mere a moral degradation.
He alleged that promoting relations with Israel is tantamount to adding insult to injuries.
